14th Annual Early Bird Sale and Bed Races - November 22, 2008
Come one, come all for the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce Bed Races to be held following the Early Bird Sale on Saturday, November 22, 2008. The sale runs from 6-9am so set your alarm early to shop. Wear your PJs for extra discounts! Scroll down for a the list of participating merchants and their discounts! Then, beginning at 10am, the decorated beds will parade from the Village Green down Main Street to Cottage. The races will be held on Cottage Street, between Main and Rodick, following the parade. Teams of 5 will race for prizes and bragging rights. 1st prize will be $500 in Bar Harbor gift certificates and 2nd prize will be $200 in Bar Harbor gift certificates. Trophies too! There will also be a “Dinner and a Movie” prize for Best Decorated Bed courtesy of the Criterion Theatre and Arts Center and The Thirsty Whale. After registering, race teams will receive a 10% off coupon to be redeemed toward bed race supplies at either Bar Harbor Trustworthy, EBS Town Hill or Paradis True Value. Village Holidays and Midnight Madness Sale - December 5, 2008
Help us welcome Santa to Bar Harbor! Santa arrives by fire truck at 5pm to light the tree on the Village Green. Family activities will follow from 5:30-6:30 at the MDI YMCA, 21 Park Street, where kids can write a letter to Santa and have their picture taken with him, make ornaments, crowns, color, have their face painted and ride the "Polar Express". Goodies and cocoa available too! The Maine Sea Coast Mission, 127 West St, will have their holiday open house from 5:30-7:30pm with hot mulled cider & wine, hors d'oeuvres, live music by Jessie Holladay and door prizes. The 8th Annual Midnight Madness Sale will be held from 8pm-midnight. There will be great discounts, music, food, drink and door prizes! 32nd Annual Island Arts Association Christmas Craft Fair - December 5-6, 2008
Held at the Atlantic Oakes, 119 Eden Street in Bar Harbor from 10am-5pm Friday and Saturday. Over 40 local handcrafters including photographs, jewelry, pottery, handmade dolls, and handbags.
